This appointment underscores Exelon’s commitment to fostering seasoned leadership to guide the company through significant shifts in the energy sector. McCabe, a trusted voice within Exelon, has steadily risen through the ranks, reinforcing her reputation as a driving force behind some of the company’s most impactful initiatives.

In her new role, McCabe will be responsible for leading communications and marketing across Exelon and its six regional energy companies, which serve over 10 million customers. Additionally, McCabe’s appointment to the Exelon Executive Committee reflects her strategic influence within the company’s top ranks.

Exelon President and CEO Calvin Butler remarked on McCabe’s elevation: “Cynthia’s extensive communications experience, combined with her leadership of key culture change initiatives over her tenure at Exelon, make her the right person to lead Communications during this critical period of growth and change for the energy industry.” He emphasised that her “strategic vision and dedication” will be critical assets as Exelon continues to solidify its standing as a frontrunner in the energy transition.

McCabe’s journey within Exelon began in 2017 when she joined as the director of Communications for Pepco Holdings, one of Exelon’s regional entities. Her impact was immediate, leading her to subsequent roles such as Director of Content and Creative Communications and later, Director of Communications for Exelon Utilities. In 2021, she was appointed Chief of Staff, a position in which she served directly under CEO Butler. By 2023, McCabe was elevated to Vice President of Executive Operations, further cementing her as a core member of Exelon’s leadership.
