Manchester’s culinary scene is gearing up for an event that promises to be both impactful and memorable. Eat Well MCR, the esteemed Manchester restaurant and hospitality collective, is launching the “Eat Well, Do Good” Festival, a city-wide, week-long series of fundraising events from the 21st to the 27th of October. This initiative aims to channel the collective energy and generosity of Manchester’s vibrant hospitality community into supporting those most in need.
The “Eat Well, Do Good” Festival is not merely an event but a call to action. Eat Well MCR is encouraging hospitality venues across Greater Manchester to participate, with the aim of raising crucial funds to support its ongoing mission: providing meals to individuals facing economic hardship. This effort is particularly vital given the concerning statistics from Shelter, which reveal that over 7,000 children in Greater Manchester are currently homeless. Eat Well MCR has been a lifeline for these children and their families, delivering meals to hotels, shelters, food banks, and schools across the region.
With each meal costing just £2 to provide, the festival represents a significant opportunity for Manchester’s hospitality sector to make a tangible difference. By participating in this initiative, venues and patrons alike can contribute to a cause that has a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable community members. The collective aims to unite chefs, restaurants, and volunteers in their efforts to deliver meals, source ingredients, and raise awareness and funds.
The festival will feature a range of activities and events, with participants like Ramona, Maray, 10 Tib Lane, and chef Caroline Martins already confirmed to take part. These events will not only celebrate the community’s achievements but also provide various avenues for the hospitality industry to contribute. Venues can participate by offering special dishes or drinks with a portion of the proceeds donated to Eat Well MCR, adding a £1 donation to every bill, or hosting ticketed events with all proceeds going to the cause.
Will Taplin, Executive Chef for Ramona, Firehouse, and Diecast, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “We’re really excited to be part of this fundraising campaign. We’ll have extra special slices at Ramona and full pie at Diecast on sale throughout October, with a built-in donation from every pizza sold going to Eat Well MCR.” This kind of involvement underscores the spirit of collaboration that Eat Well MCR hopes to foster through the festival.
The week will culminate in a celebration at Ramona on the 27th of October, where proceeds from the evening will be donated to Eat Well MCR. The event will feature performances from DJs associated with Stells Selections and bring together hospitality operators, the general public, and those who have directly benefited from Eat Well MCR’s services.
As the “Eat Well, Do Good” Festival approaches, Eat Well MCR is extending an open invitation to venues across Greater Manchester to join this meaningful initiative. By participating, Manchester’s culinary community has the opportunity to show that it stands united in its commitment to supporting those who need it most, reinforcing the city’s reputation for both culinary excellence and compassionate action.
