Premium Charging Technology Now More Accessible

Andersen, a leading UK designer of electric vehicle charging systems, has introduced the Andersen Quartz, a new compact domestic charge point. The product maintains the company’s established standards for design and functionality while being offered at a more competitive price point that positions the brand against mainstream market rivals.

The Quartz comes in two primary configurations: a socketed unit, which marks the first such offering from Andersen, allowing customers to use their own charging cables; and a tethered option with an attached cable for added convenience. Technical specifications include both 7kW single-phase and 22kW three-phase options, accommodating various domestic electricity setups.

Compact Design with Customisation Options

The Quartz features notably reduced dimensions, measuring 34% shorter and 45% narrower than the A3, which was previously Andersen’s smallest charging unit. The A3 was launched last year and received industry recognition for its design.

Customers can customise their Quartz units by selecting from over 100 colour combinations for both the fascia and body, enabling the charger to complement existing architectural features. Additional premium finish options include Accoya wood or carbon front fascia trim for enhanced aesthetic appeal.

David Martell, CEO of Andersen, stated: “As the EV market moves towards mass adoption, we are extending our product portfolio to meet the needs and expectations of the wider range of customers that are now looking to invest in a domestic charge point that offers style as well as functionality.”

Technical Capabilities

The Quartz incorporates electronics developed by Andersen’s internal R&D team, providing compatibility with solar power systems and optimisation for economy electricity tariffs. This functionality allows users to charge their vehicles at rates substantially lower than public charging costs.

The unit can be operated through an updated Andersen mobile application or via an optional display screen. The application provides features for monitoring energy consumption and costs, while also allowing users to schedule charging sessions based on cost or environmental considerations.

Manufacturing and Quality Assurance

Each Andersen Quartz is hand-built at the company’s production facility in Bedfordshire. The units feature cast-aluminium construction that provides weather resistance and durability. The manufacturing capacity at this facility has been doubled to meet anticipated demand levels.

The manufacturing process emphasises both quality control and sustainability. Approximately 70% of components used in the Quartz are produced within the UK, reducing transportation requirements in the supply chain.

The Quartz carries Andersen’s standard 7-year warranty, which the company describes as market-leading. Installation services are provided by Andersen’s in-house team of electricians operating nationwide, with units available for immediate purchase.

Strategic Market Position

The introduction of the Quartz represents Andersen’s response to broader market adoption of electric vehicles in the UK. The product aims to bring premium charging technology to a wider customer base.

“We’ve made a significant investment in research and development and in our production facilities ahead of this launch, and we’re expecting the introduction of the Andersen Quartz to make the quality and style of Andersen home chargers available to greater numbers of EV drivers,” added Martell.

The product launch comes at a time when the domestic EV charging market is expanding rapidly, with increasing numbers of homeowners seeking reliable charging solutions as electric vehicle adoption accelerates across the UK market.
