The relationship between the gut and the brain has moved from what was once a scientific curiosity to now, a mainstream conversation, and now there is a six-day retreat built entirely around it. The Gut-Brain Reset arrives at Minos Palace Resort this November, hosted at Nao Longevity Hub, the adults-only resort’s longevity and wellbeing space that opened in May 2025.

The programme takes the gut-brain axis as its organising principle and applies it to stress, sleep, mood and general health, with personalised prognostics, restorative treatments, functional movement, breathwork and sleep practices arranged across the week.

Talks and workshops come from Nao’s Scientific Board, and the guiding position is refreshingly unfussy: healthy ageing is about understanding the body better, not optimising it into submission.

A private peninsula
Minos Palace Resort occupies a private peninsula on the quiet coast of eastern Crete, an island within an island, with panoramic views across the Aegean. The setting is the reason the programme works as a holiday rather than a course of treatment, because the walk between a prognostic assessment and a swim is a short one.

The adults-only format keeps the atmosphere calm, and the resort pairs contemporary longevity thinking with the slower rhythms of the coastline. Guests arrive to welcome wellness drinks, a tour of the hub and a welcome circle with journaling, before the first evening dinner buffet at what the resort calls the Cretan Longevity Table.

The Nao method
Nao Longevity Hub is founded on the idea that the body already holds the information needed to improve its own function. The Nao Method applies precision wellbeing and lifestyle interventions drawn from the 14 Hallmarks of Ageing and advanced prognostics, organised across five pillars: nutrition, sleep, movement, self-mastery, and connection and purpose.

The facilities are well equipped. Eight treatment rooms sit alongside a Brain Gym, cryotherapy, an infrared sauna, photobiomodulation and vibroacoustic therapy areas, relaxation and meditation zones, hot and cold plunges, an emotional tunnel and a vitality pool.

Beyond its signature Longevity Programme, the hub runs shorter goal-oriented packages covering detoxification, skin renewal and other individual health targets.
the six-day programme
The week builds deliberately. Day two brings further prognostic assessments, hydrotherapy and treatments, a Mediterranean anti-inflammatory lunch and the first expert lecture, while day three opens with a gut-brain morning flow and moves into a cooking and fermentation lab titled Cultivating Your Inner Ecosystem, closing with a guest chef’s dinner.

Day four begins with grounding yoga and gives over the middle of the day to a Cretan foraging journey, followed by a lecture and a sound bath. Day five turns practical with a session in the Brain Gym, a coffee and longevity workshop and a Mediterranean social dinner with live music.

The final morning is given to an expert longevity consultation and a closing circle, turning six days of insight into something workable at home.

Rituals that travel
The most useful part of the programme may be its portability. Fermentation, Mediterranean nutrition, breathwork and time spent outdoors require no equipment and no membership, which makes them considerably easier to sustain than the average post-retreat resolution.

Personalised treatments and leisure time are built into almost every day, so the schedule never tips into the punishing. Full board dining and tailored treatments are included throughout, and the pace leaves room for the peninsula itself, which is rather the point.
