The prestigious British sailing yacht manufacturer has unveiled plans for a striking new 80-foot model that promises to redefine luxury ocean exploration. Revealed during an exclusive Private View event at London’s St Katharine Docks, the Oyster 805 represents the culmination of five decades of shipbuilding expertise and signals a bold new direction for the brand amid record-breaking sales performance.

Standing as the centrepiece of an ambitious growth strategy, the 805 bridges the gap between the current 745 and 885 Series II models. This strategic expansion comes alongside the appointment of former Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO Torsten MĂĽller-Ă–tvös as Strategic Advisor, bringing his considerable luxury brand expertise to bear on Oyster’s global aspirations.

Superyacht thinking in an 80-foot package
The newly announced Oyster 805 introduces a host of sophisticated design elements previously reserved for much larger vessels. Created in partnership with Humphreys Yacht Design, the yacht features expanded hull ports and panoramic saloon windows that flood interior spaces with natural light.

Built entirely to order and scheduled for its first launch in 2027, the 805 offers flexible interior configurations with optional features such as a dedicated day bar and private office space. Each vessel maintains the brand’s signature robust construction while elevating the aesthetic experience through thoughtful design touches and premium craftsmanship.

“The 805 will open a world of adventure to new and existing owners – and also mark a new chapter for Oyster,” explains Ashley Highfield, CEO. “Amidst tough market conditions and global challenges, Oyster is having a record year for sales and these new products continue to differentiate us as demand grows for luxury adventure.”

The careful balance of bluewater capability and refined luxury positions the 805 as the logical next step for existing owners seeking to upgrade, while potentially attracting newcomers from the motor yacht segment who desire genuine ocean-crossing capabilities without sacrificing comfort.

Reimagining the ownership journey
Beyond the physical vessel itself, Oyster has introduced two complementary programmes designed to enhance the complete ownership experience. The Explorers Club offers fully curated and supported voyages to extraordinary sailing destinations worldwide, making global cruising more accessible to owners regardless of their previous bluewater experience.

These adventures promise access to remote island chains and high-latitude regions with the constant backup of Oyster’s expert team – effectively removing barriers to true exploration while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Complementing this initiative, the new Bluewater Academy provides personalised onboard training tailored to individual skill levels and aspirations. Rather than generic sailing instruction, these programmes take place in real-world passage conditions aboard actual Oyster yachts, creating a practical learning environment directly relevant to owners’ vessels.

“These initiatives are designed to empower our owners to embark on unforgettable journeys—whether they are seasoned sailors or new to the world of bluewater cruising,” notes Highfield. The academy also serves as an entry point to the broader Oyster community, facilitating connections between owners for knowledge-sharing and collaborative adventures.
Continuous evolution across the fleet
The company has also announced the Oyster 595 Series II, an updated version of their best-selling 60-foot model. This refresh incorporates larger hull ports, expanded seascape windows, refined below-deck features, and upgraded connected technologies throughout the vessel.

This systematic approach to product development maintains the distinctive Oyster DNA while incorporating innovations and enhancements based on owner feedback and technological advancements. The result is a fleet that remains true to its heritage while continuously evolving to meet contemporary expectations.
Richard Hadida, Owner and Chairman, captured the brand’s philosophy: “The Oyster 805 is the yacht I dreamed of when I took the helm at Oyster. She’s striking, luxurious, and built to take you anywhere.”

British craftsmanship, global ambitions
With over 50 years of refinement behind them, each Oyster yacht combines traditional handcrafting skills with advanced production technology. The limited production numbers and exacting quality standards ensure both exclusivity and longevity – these vessels are genuinely built to last a lifetime.

The company’s strong financial performance for FY 2024/25 validates this approach, marking a significant turnaround and cementing their position as a revitalised force in the global yachting industry. With over 20 million blue water sailing miles and more than 100 circumnavigations completed aboard Oyster yachts, the brand’s reputation for combining luxury with genuine capability remains unquestioned.

For those inspired to embark on the ultimate sailing adventure, the 2028-29 Oyster World Rally still has limited availability. This extraordinary journey spans 27 destinations and 27,000 nautical miles with comprehensive support services throughout.
