Rome is Europe’s number one tourist spot, and to keep up with the demand for a higher caliber of visitors, new and refurbished luxury hotels are planned for opening throughout 2019, we take a look at some of the best places to stay in one of the most culturally rich places in the world.


The First Roma Dolce
Opening February 2019

The opulent five-star First Roma Dolce hotel is set in a 19th-century palazzo on Rome’s historical Via del Corso, and houses 23 guest rooms and suites, and elegance reception area, and even its very own Italian pasticceria. The standout features include Nero Saint Laurent marble clad bathrooms, appointed with Acqua di Parma toiletries and Valentino bath robes.


Mandarin Oriental
Opening Early 2019

CastaDiva Resort & Spa has is one of Lake Como’s most prestigious five-star venues, and now it has been selected to join the Oriental Hotel Group, which is world-renowned for an extremely high standard of hospitality and luxury. The stunning lakeside location is set in the grounds of a fabulous botanical garden, and provides the perfect getaway. The merger is due to take place early this year, and minor improvements will include some redecoration, entertainment upgrades, and a few surprises for loyal guests.


Il VesConte
Opening March 2019

Located just outside of Rome and close to Florence, Il VesConte is a palatial bed and breakfast set in a historical 16th-century mansion resplendent with priceless family heirlooms, steeped with history and charm. The property of the noble Cozza Caposavi family, whose youngest member, Francesco, has revealed plans to open it to the public as a luxurious hotel to create a unique experience for guests, with no space of the palace off limits. The residence has already seen it’s fair share of high profile visitors over the centuries, including pope, royalty and movie stars.


Hotel De La Ville
Opening May 2019

The latest offering from the Rocco Forte Hotels group, Hotel De La Ville is set to be a prestigious 100 room property, housed in a stunning and lovingly renovated 18th-century palazzo. The main attraction to this hotel will be the large luxurious spa spread across two floors with six treatment rooms for complete indulgence and pampering in a relaxing, decadent setting. Other features will include the bistro cellar and top floor bar with panoramic views of the city.


Masseria Torre Maizza
Reopening May 2019

The Masseria Torre Maizza hotel and golf course has been acquired by the Rocco Forte group, and is currently undergoing a major refurbishment, with a cost of over €6 million assigned to the work. Set in the Pulia region, the 16th-century coastal estate is set amongst a mini forest of olive trees amongst stunning scenery. Once the work is complete, guests will be treated to 40 new suites, a rooftop bar, a restaurant overlooking the swimming pool and a lovingly restored 9-hole golf course.
