Baglietto Unveils New Flagship Superyacht

La Spezia shipyard Baglietto has expanded its successful DOM series with the 47-metre DOM155, a displacement motor yacht that amplifies volume and elevates living spaces while retaining the family’s signature sculptural aesthetic. Scheduled for delivery in early 2029, the sub-500 GT flagship targets owners who appreciate the DOM philosophy at a grander scale. Chief Commercial Officer Fabio Ermetto highlights that the design reflects a dialogue with existing clients and market feedback, ensuring the DOM155 meets evolving expectations for comfort, versatility, and refinement

Baglietto’s DOM line has quietly become one of the Italian builder’s most commercially successful ventures. The DOM133 found 12 buyers, whilst the more recent DOM115 has secured four orders since its introduction. Now the yard introduces the DOM155, a 47-metre displacement motor yacht that extends the concept to owners requiring more generous proportions without crossing the 500 GT threshold.

Designer Stefano Vafiadis describes the exterior styling as clean and sculptural, featuring longitudinal cuts and taut volumes borrowed from automotive design. The approach avoids excess whilst maintaining an assertive presence on the water. Aluminium construction, already proven on the DOM133, provides the flexibility for extensive customisation alongside improved performance and a shallow draft that should appeal particularly to American clients, where the shipyard has established a growing presence.

Chief Commercial Officer Fabio Ermetto notes the design emerged from sustained dialogue with existing owners and broader market feedback. He explains that whilst the 35-metre and 41-metre models proved popular, buyers repeatedly expressed interest in larger dimensions within the same conceptual framework.

Aft Deck Focus

The DOM155’s defining feature sits aft, where a panoramic infinity pool anchors a dedicated relaxation zone. Twin staircases flank the pool, providing access to the aft cockpit. Twin staircases flank the pool, with the port stair cleverly lowering to provide technical access to the beach club below.

This lower-level space offers unusual versatility. Owners can configure it as a wellness area, complete with spa and gymnasium overlooking the water through a fold-down shell door. The same door facilitates tender access when needed. Alternatively, the entire zone can serve as additional tender storage for clients requiring a larger support vessel. A substantial transformer platform aft handles swimming and dock access with equal facility.

Interior Flow

Floor-to-ceiling glazing appears throughout the vessel, creating the fluid transition between interior and exterior environments that characterises the DOM series. The main deck exemplifies this approach, where fully opening doors connect the outdoor and indoor lounges without threshold or interruption.

A dining table accommodating ten guests sits immediately aft of the interior saloon. Forward through the lobby, the galley occupies the port side behind a technical pantry, whilst a corridor leads to the owner’s suite. This full-beam space incorporates an office with walk-in wardrobe, a master bedroom fitted with a California king-size bed, and a his-and-hers bathroom featuring a walk-through shower.

The lower deck houses four guest cabins, each with private facilities, plus the option of an additional cabin on the upper deck. Crew accommodation forward on the lower deck provides eight berths across four en-suite cabins, alongside a mess and laundry facilities.

Upper Levels & Sun Deck

The upper deck saloon opens on three sides, flooding the space with natural light whilst maintaining optimal airflow. Outdoor dining and lounging areas complete this level. Forward of the wheelhouse, a private lounge allows guests to enjoy passage-making away from the main social areas. The forward technical zone stores the tender and a jet ski.

The 130-square-metre sun deck delivers unobstructed 360-degree views. Sunbathing areas share the space with a conversation lounge and another infinity pool, this one integrated with a bar. The arrangement provides a natural focal point for social gatherings afloat.

Performance & Customisation

Twin CAT C32 engines will propel the DOM155 to a maximum speed of 16 knots. The displacement hull form prioritises comfort and efficiency over outright performance, consistent with the yacht’s positioning as a volume-focused cruising platform rather than a fast passage-maker.

Aluminium construction delivers the shallow draft that opens up cruising grounds often inaccessible to steel-hulled vessels of similar size. The material choice also facilitates the extensive customisation programme the yard has built its reputation upon, allowing owners to tailor layouts and finishes to personal requirements without the constraints imposed by heavier construction methods.

Proven Pedigree

The first DOM155 unit will reach its owner in early 2029, giving the yard’s La Spezia and Carrara facilities time to refine the production process established with the smaller DOM models. With 16 DOM-series yachts already sold across two models, the flagship arrives with proven pedigree and clear market validation.
