Baglietto has released the first details of Project Farah, a 49.7-metre full-custom yacht currently under construction at the Italian shipyard’s La Spezia headquarters. Sitting just under the 500 GT threshold, the vessel has been designed around a unifying philosophy: to translate the warmth and familiarity of home into a nautical setting without sacrificing performance or seaworthiness.

The exterior and interior design has been co-authored by Matheus Farah e Manoel Maia Arquitetura and Fernando de Almeida Yacht Design, with project management throughout construction entrusted to Royal Yacht International, acting on behalf of the Owner. The name Farah, meaning happiness in Arabic, encapsulates the Owner’s intent from the outset, framing the yacht as an expression of an epicurean vision of life at sea.
Design philosophy and exterior lines
Project Farah’s exterior presents clean, symmetrical and uncluttered lines, defined by a distinctive metallic grey hull paired with a black superstructure. The vertical bow reinforces the yacht’s strong nautical character while contributing to a performance-driven profile. Throughout both the exterior and interior, symmetry, functionality and design coherence have been prioritised to create a seamless spatial language that enhances circulation and allows for a high degree of flexibility.

Areas throughout the vessel have been designed to be reconfigured to suit different needs and occasions, reflecting an understanding that a private yacht of this scale serves many purposes across any given voyage. The result is a layout that is considered rather than imposed, adapting to the Owner’s requirements rather than constraining them.
Interior warmth and material palette
The interior spaces have been conceived around a “warm modernism” philosophy, combining contemporary, minimalist architecture with the softening influence of natural materials. Wood and leather feature prominently throughout, expressed in warm tones of brown and sand and enriched with subtle golden accents. A soft, enveloping lighting scheme ties the spaces together, creating an atmosphere that is at once refined and deeply comfortable.
This approach reflects a broader ambition to make Farah feel like a private residence that happens to be at sea, rather than a vessel that has been furnished as an afterthought. The design team’s background in residential and yacht architecture has informed every decision, from the flow of spaces to the selection of finishes, resulting in an interior vocabulary that is cohesive and considered throughout.
Performance specifications and delivery
Project Farah will be powered by twin Caterpillar C32 engines, delivering a top speed of 16 knots. The yacht will also feature a helipad, further extending its range of capabilities for extended ocean passages. Delivery to the Owner is scheduled for 2027, at which point it will join Baglietto’s growing fleet of fully custom builds delivered in the 35 to 65-metre range.
Fabio Ermetto, Chief Commercial Officer of Baglietto, described Project Farah as a unique and outstanding project that once again highlights the shipyard’s distinctive expertise in delivering fully custom yachts. He noted Baglietto’s ability to interpret and fulfil the most sophisticated requirements of highly experienced Owners, combining exceptional build quality with bespoke design at every level.
Baglietto’s manufacturing capability
Baglietto operates two production sites: its headquarters in La Spezia, which extends over approximately 35,000 square metres, and an operating site in Carrara. The La Spezia facility has undergone significant renovation in recent years, with three new construction sheds capable of accommodating yachts up to 65 metres, alongside fully equipped quays able to berth vessels of up to 70 metres. An approximately 1,200-ton travel lift, described as the largest of its kind in Europe, enables the haulage and launch of yachts in the full size range the shipyard serves.
The Carrara site houses production for the Baglietto Navy military craft division, selected models under the Bertram Yachts brand, which joined the Baglietto Group in 2015, and the DOM line of yachts up to 46 metres. Together, the two sites give the shipyard the capacity and flexibility to manage multiple complex custom projects simultaneously, maintaining the build quality that has defined its reputation across more than a century and a half of Italian craftsmanship.
