In a dazzling exclusive event held in Miami, Maserati, the renowned Italian automaker, showcased its impressive new lineup of supercars, further solidifying its position in the high-performance automotive sector. The event, characterised by Maserati’s quintessential blend of luxury and performance, also featured a surprise unveiling: a luxury SUV that promises to redefine the standards in its category.

Maserati’s commitment to innovation and elegance was evident in every model presented. The lineup exuded a perfect balance between advanced engineering and aesthetic sophistication, traits that are emblematic of the Trident brand. Each vehicle showcased represented the pinnacle of automotive design and engineering, catering to the discerning tastes of luxury car enthusiasts.

This newest addition to the Maserati family, the Grecale SUV, exemplifies the brand’s expansion into new segments, offering a unique combination of comfort, style, and performance. Designed to compete with the best in its class, this SUV is poised to become a new benchmark for luxury and versatility in the high-end automotive market.

Maserati’s strategic move to introduce these new models aligns with its broader vision for growth and innovation. The company continues to push boundaries, embracing new technologies and design philosophies to deliver an unparalleled driving experience. This latest unveiling in Miami not only reinforces Maserati’s prestigious heritage but also signals its ambitious path forward in the competitive world of luxury automobiles.

The inevitable shift into electrification is already underway, with each model being future-proofed to accept all-new electric drivetrains and battery configurations, without compromising on design or balance. Bill Peffer, CEO of Maserati Americas, exclusively tells The Executive Magazine:

“We’re a performance car brand. But when it comes to electrification, the good news is that the upfront engineering and engineering thoughtfulness of these new products allows for flexible powertrain development. So while each of these models have a version of the Nettuno engine technology that’s designed exclusively for Maserati, we’ve also planned full electric variances of each car, beginning with the GranTurismo in a few months. We needed to stay true to the ethos of the brand which is performance, and so we didn’t want to compromise. With some of the competition, the driver sits on top of the battery, in our case they sit around the battery. So what that does is not only provide the weight distribution advantage, and give you that perfect balance, but it it also allows for a configuration where you don’t compromise the style of the car.”

“Because performance is the ethos of our brand, we’ve also made the Folgore version of each model, which is the trim level that means ‘lightening’ in Italian. They will be the pinnacle of each of these models that sit at the top of the range delivering the best technology, the best performance, and the most capability under the Maserati brand”

GranTurismo

Maserati heralds a new chapter with the launch of the GranTurismo coupé, a remarkable blend of high-performance and long-distance comfort. This model is a first for Maserati, soon to feature a 100% electric powertrain, alongside its traditional internal combustion engines, embodying the brand’s forward-looking vision. The GranTurismo’s design exudes elegance without ostentation, maintaining Maserati’s iconic proportions while emphasising its sleek, refined aesthetics. Crafted in Italy, it epitomises the luxury performance synonymous with the marque.

Under its hood, the GranTurismo offers two versions of the innovative V-6 Nettuno engine: the 490-hp Modena and the 550-hp Trofeo. The electric variant, the GranTurismo Folgore, features a cutting-edge battery-powered system with 800-volt technology, delivering a remarkable 760-hp. This model’s advanced technical architecture incorporates lightweight materials for optimal performance. Its interior boasts the latest Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system and the immersive Sonus Faber Audio system, available in two configurations for a superior sound experience.

“The GranTurismo will be available in two different configurations, 490 and about 550 horse power. Part of the marvel of the Nettuno powerplant is how is can be mounted in different positions. We’ve also planned for full electrification, so in a few months this car will be available with an 800v tri-motor powertrain, it has a T configuration battery allowing for a perfect 50/50 weight distribution.”

Marking Maserati’s 75th anniversary, the GranTurismo is also available in a special PrimaSerie 75th Anniversary Launch Edition, showcasing unique features and celebrating the brand’s rich heritage. The GT is a testament to the brand’s ability to blend sportiness, luxury, and comfort, setting a new benchmark in its class with both its combustion and electric powertrains.

Grecale SUV

Introducing the all new Grecale SUV, now available for test drives and purchase at Maserati showrooms. The Grecale is offered in three trims – GT, Modena, and Trofeo. The exclusive PrimaSerie models, limited to fewer than 350 vehicles, are available in Modena and Trofeo trims, featuring unique aesthetics, luxury interiors, and advanced technologies.

“Next up we’re launching the electric version of our Grecale. This car competes in the D-segment, which is the largest segment proliferation and is very competitive. So the ethos of this car lies in three different pillars. Firstly to provide more standard and available horsepower, more interior and cabin space than the competition, and finally the best technology in its class. This vehicle comes as standard with a multi-speaker Sonus Fabus system, it has the Maserati intelligence system which acts as a concierge – you can instruct the car with your voice and do certain commands like change the temperature of the cabin. It also has some cool features like a wearable key. So the active lifestyle exhibited by the target customer for this vehicle, gives the flexibility of activities like hiking, biking, and swimming with the wearable key, and they don’t have to carry the fob in their pocket. That’s been a marvel that people really enjoy, and it comes standard with the vehicle as well.”

Distinguished by Maserati’s core values of innovation, versatility, and luxury, the Grecale stands out in performance, comfort, and technology:

  • Performance: The GT and Modena trims are powered by 296-hp and 325-hp four-cylinder mild hybrid engines, respectively. The Trofeo boasts a 523-hp V6 engine derived from the MC20 Nettuno, complemented by AWD, an eight-speed transmission, and advanced suspension options.

Like our flagship Levante SUV, Grecale will strategically broaden our presence in North America by appealing to a wider group of discerning customers through its performance with the Trofeo version’s MC20-derived Nettuno V6 engine, its bold lines, timeless design, and numerous best-in-class features.”

MC20 Cielo

The Trident brand has also unveiled the MC20 Cielo. This new spyder variant of the acclaimed MC20 super sports car elevates the driving experience, combining Maserati’s GranTurismo spirit with innovative design and technology. The MC20 Cielo is distinguished by its state-of-the-art Polymer-Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) technology, which powers an electrically retractable glass roof. This feature, a segment leader in size and functionality, allows drivers to switch the roof from transparent to opaque instantly, offering a panoramic view of the sky. The roof can be operated safely at speeds up to 50 km/h and transforms in just 12 seconds.

As part of the Maserati Fuoriserie customization program, the PrimaSerie Launch Edition of the MC20 Cielo showcases an exclusive three-layer Acquamarina color, adding to its allure. The Cielo maintains the dynamic performance and driving pleasure synonymous with its coupé counterpart, despite a minimal weight increase due to its carbon fibre and composite material construction.

The spyder’s design, conceived at the Centro Stile Maserati in Turin, encapsulates the brand’s ethos of elegance and racing spirit. The aerodynamic efficiency is a result of meticulous design and extensive testing. It also features the revolutionary V6 Nettuno engine, first introduced in the 2020 MC20, ensuring an exceptional blend of sportiness and luxury. The supercar is equipped with an array of advanced features, including autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and a 360° camera system for effortless parking.

The MC20 Cielo is not just a testament to Maserati’s commitment to innovation but also a strategic expansion into the convertible sports car market. This new model broadens the MC20 range, reaffirming Maserati’s dedication to performance, comfort, and unparalleled driving pleasure.
