On the pristine south-west coast of Langkawi, Malaysia’s fabled Jewel of Kedah, a new chapter in refined island exploration has begun. The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi has introduced a new way to explore the island’s remarkable coastline. Its latest guest experience, Dayang Mastura, is a private Lagoon 620 sailing catamaran designed to offer exclusive charters across the Andaman Sea.

Named to symbolise enduring grace, Dayang Mastura extends the resort’s commitment to meaningful, culturally rooted travel. This isn’t any yacht excursion, it’s an invitation to see Langkawi differently from the water, at your own pace, with every detail thoughtfully handled.

Private Luxury at Sea

Designed as a sanctuary on water, the yacht features interiors by renowned Italian studio Nauta Design, blending clean contemporary lines with relaxed nautical touches, giving it a effortlessly stylish look.

The yacht fits up to 20 guests, perfect for a birthday, family gathering, romantic getaway, or a small corporate escape. Meals happen when you want, inside or out, and the lounge and salon are there to relax in between swims. Sun decks are made for lying back and watching the sea go by, and there’s even a small yoga and meditation space if you want a moment of calm.

With four ensuite cabins, overnight stays feel easy and comfortable. Paddleboards, kayaks, snorkelling gear, and fishing equipment let you explore however you like, whether that’s an energetic morning on the water or a slow afternoon drifting with the tide.

Setting Sail

Each charter begins at Telaga Harbour Park Marina, just five minutes from the resort. Guests are welcomed aboard by a dedicated captain and crew with a selection of aperitifs before setting sail across the calm waters of the Andaman Sea.

The route follows the striking Machinchang Coast, home to some of the oldest rock formations in Southeast Asia. Here, dramatic limestone cliffs and forest-covered slopes rise directly from the shoreline, their layered faces shaped over hundreds of millions of years. The coastline feels raw and elemental, with hidden coves and quiet stretches of beach only accessible by boat.

From there, the yacht glides through the peaceful Straits of Chinchin, a calm channel known for its glassy waters and panoramic views back towards Langkawi’s mountainous interior. The journey continues towards a trio of offshore islands, including Pulau Rebak Besar, known for its sheltered bays and coral-fringed waters, and Pulau Intan Kecil, a smaller, quieter islet often favoured for its clear snorkelling spots and sense of seclusion.

Here, sheltered coves and clear waters create ideal conditions for swimming and snorkelling. Beneath the surface, vibrant reefs are home to colourful marine life, from sergeant majors to parrotfish and damselfish, offering a glimpse into Langkawi’s thriving ecosystem.

Dining in Style

One of the most enjoyable aspects of the experience is the food. Anchored against the dramatic backdrop of the Machinchang mountain range, with its sheer limestone cliffs rising above rainforest canopies, guests are served a bespoke picnic prepared by the resort’s private chef, inspired by Langkawi’s diverse culinary heritage.

Guests can expect delectable interpretations of local favourites such as Kuih Rotan, a delicate coconut-based sweet, Kerabu Kale, a fresh, tangy salad infused with regional spices and Kuih Lapis, the island’s iconic layered cake. Seasonal fruits, from succulent tropical mangoes to fragrant papayas, and carefully presented canapés complement the menu. The setting does much of the work, thanks to the uninterrupted sea views, gentle ocean breezes, and the occasional sea eagle gliding overhead create a sense of ease and presence that elevates the entire dining experience.

Sunset on the Andaman

For those choosing a sunset charter, the atmosphere shifts as golden hour approaches. The limestone cliffs along the Machinchang Coast soften in colour, the islands catch the evening light, and the pace naturally slows as the yacht moves across the Andaman Sea. Some guests chat over a drink, while others simply sit back and enjoy the view.

The evening menu keeps things light, with dishes such as Lempeng with Sambal Bilis, Thai Beef Salad, Banana Cake and Pandan Financiers. Many guests choose to eat on the sun deck, with little more than the sound of the water alongside.
