The PGA National Resort & Spa sits amongst 90 holes of championship golf spread over five world-class courses, which have been home to the Ryder Cup, PGA Championships and a litany of other prized professional golf tournaments. Featuring a spa with exclusive “Waters of the World” outdoor mineral pools, tennis courts, restaurants, bars and events facilities, there’s something for everyone at this 5 star luxury retreat. Known for its exceptional customer service and mix of fine dining and casual restaurants, the PGA truly has something for everyone.

Location

Nestled amongst a huge sprawling estate of luxury housing, beautifully landscaped gardens and vast private lakes, the PGA National Resort is perfectly placed in a quiet and tranquil setting. You will need a car to get around, there’s no shuttle service or public transport, but with the valet parking everything is taken care of. Situated just minutes from I-95 and the Florida Turnpike, getting there is an easy drive.

The resort is within driving distance of the Rosemary Square complex, an open aired shopping, dining and entertainment plaza with some of the best stores and nightlife in Palm Beach, which is definitely worth a visit for tourists and locals alike. Also take a ride out to Clematis Street historical district for some culture and sightseeing.

The location is ideally suited for the main attraction of the resort – golf, and with over 2000 areas of pristinely landscaped and well maintained grounds, there’s plenty of room for the five courses.

Rooms

There are 339 guest rooms and luxuriously themed suites, as well as connecting rooms for families and groups, as well as a large, sophisticated and prestigious presidential suite – which is more more like an up-scale downtown apartment – perfect for hosting a special party after a round of golf and some pampering in the spa. The rooms are well appointed, spacious and have a homely, relaxed feel. Designed in typical Floridian style with Mediterranean inspired decor with all the modern amenities you need, the rooms are spotlessly clean and immaculately presented.

If you need even more space for colleagues, friends or family, the PGA owns a number of houses on the estate which can be configured to meet any guest requirements. There are over 46 distinct communities housing some 5,000 properties including club cottages, golf villas and condos.

Food and drink

With a fantastic array of bars, restaurants and clubhouses, the PGA resort caters for every occasion from fine dining to light snacks. All located within the premises, everything is easily accessible from the central lobby. Each of the eight onsite restaurants and lounges offers a unique drinking and dining experiences.

The most revered choice for diners is Ironwood Steak & Seafood, known as one of the best restaurants in Palm Beach, and famed for is gigantic 40oz Tomahawk steak. Based in a sophisticated and luxurious setting, head chef Jeffrey Mueller has brought modernist American style cooking to a fine dining level with a succulent range of USDA prime steaks and fresh, daily line-caught fish. We recommend the scallops and shrimp cocktail for starters both cooked and prepared to perfection. Almost everyone we spoke to about the Ironwood raved about the Tomahawk, so it was only right to attempt this Goliath of a steak ourselves. Presented at your table by the chef, and ceremoniously carved off the bone, the prime cut is served medium rare – charred on the outside, perfectly pink and juicy on the inside. The presentation and grandeur of the presentation is a wonderful spectacle to behold, and harmonised by the delicious, mouthwateringly flavoursome taste.

Not to be outdone by the Tomahawk, the famous Chocolate Bomb dessert is another performance which is a must for any guest. Usually reserved for birthday celebrations, a large chocolate shell is presented at the table, with the chef slowly pouring a hot whiskey and caramel syrup. This melts the shell to reveal a medley of brownie, ice cream, chocolate and other delicious treats – perfect for sharing, and delightfully indulgent.

iBAR offers a relaxing atmosphere for an evening of sophisticated drinks, with a varied and creative cocktail and wine menu, along with light bites. Located in the central lobby, the bar gives a real sense of social interaction, encouraged by large raised sharing tables and a central island bar, or you can take your drinks to the plush seating on the lobby for more privacy.

Facilities

The PGA National Resort features the widest range of facilities we have ever encountered in one venue. Centred around the main attraction of the resort, there’s plenty of golf related activities, including a state of the art digital golf facility which allows practice and refinement of your swing, onsite pro’s and classes, as well shops and places to eat.

Each of the five 18-hole courses have their own unique features and vary in difficulty, with players from around the world enjoying the courses designed by Tom and George Fazio who created them with tournament play in mind. The Championship course is notoriously challenging, even for the pros who try to tame it during the Honda Classic tournament each year, featuring the infamous ‘Bear Trap’, and a range of water hazards and bunkers which catch even the most experienced players out.

The world-class spa is a welcome addition for those who want to get away from the golf for a little while, and has a selection of over 100 treatments and luxurious private relaxation areas. The secluded outdoor relaxation area features mineral pools, inspired by destinations from around the world including the Dead Sea, and Salies de Bearn which uses salts imported from the French Pyrenees. A nice touch is the group treatments which are on offer, perfect for ladies parties, birthdays, and wedding day pampering.

The 33,000 square-foot state-of-the-art health and racquet club features 18 tennis courts (11 lit for night play), and plays host to a range of courses, from beginner classes to semi-professional tournaments. Expert coaches are on hand, and all equipment can be hired at the on-site specialist shop.

The resort is an extraordinary destination for lakeside weddings, with stunning vistas for magical photo opportunities, and an on-site wedding planning and hosting service caters for every possible requirement of the bride and groom. The resort can cater for anything from a small intimate celebration to an extravagant weekend for 100’s of guests. Flexible space and a passion for matrimony means the team can turn and desires into reality, all with a beautiful backdrop and luxurious amenities.

The resort is frequently used by organisations for staff training events and seminars, it’s a perfect location to host conferences for hundreds of delegates with state of the art meeting room facilities, and has the unique option to offer a few rounds of golf and a spa treatment after business is wrapped up.
