Private luxury travel specialist Captain’s Choice offers a selection of extraordinary itineraries for 2025–2026, from which we highlight four exceptional journeys spanning Sri Lanka, the Himalayas, Latin America, and the historic Kangaroo Route. Each programme is limited to 24–50 participants, ensuring intimate access to destinations and experiences.
These journeys span continents and seasons, from November expeditions through the Himalayas to summer explorations of Latin America’s Atlantic islands. The programmes integrate multiple transportation methods, including vintage trains, private jets, and chartered commercial aircraft, creating seamless connections between remote destinations.
Wildlife Encounters in Sri Lanka Protected Reserves
The Safaris & Spices journey through Sri Lanka combines conservation experiences with cultural immersion across a 14-day programme. Guests accompany conservationist Chitral Jayatilleke on Jeep safaris through Minneriya National Park, where elephant herds gather during seasonal migrations. The itinerary includes guided expeditions through Yala National Park, recognised for its leopard population density and home to sloth bears and sambar deer.
The journey includes a ride on the Viceroy Special, a privately chartered vintage train that winds through the country’s lush tea plantations. In Matale, participants explore spice gardens to learn the cultivation and processing of cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. Culinary experiences range from candlelit dinners beneath the Dambulla Cave Temple complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to contemporary dining at Colombo’s acclaimed Ministry of Crab.
Departure: 8 November 2025.
The Rooftop of the World
The Rooftop of the World programme spans Nepal, Bhutan, and India across 18 days. Limited to just 24 participants, it begins in Kathmandu with scenic mountain flights over Everest and neighbouring peaks before continuing into Chitwan National Park in search of rhinos, leopards, and tigers.
Accommodation is centred on Six Senses lodges in Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro, with hikes to the cliffside Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most sacred sites. The journey continues aboard heritage rail to Darjeeling’s Makaibari Tea Estate, before concluding in Kolkata with a sensory immersion at the Mallick Ghat Flower Market, one of Asia’s largest. Departure: 15 November 2025.
Recreating the Kangaroo Route
The Pioneering Spirit of the Kangaroo Route recreates the famous 1947 Qantas journey from Sydney to London. Captain’s Choice operates this 14-day programme aboard a privately chartered Qantas Airbus A330, featuring business-class catering throughout the journey. The route includes stops in Singapore, Sri Lanka, Egypt, and Italy, each incorporating exclusive access experiences.
Unforgettable highlights define each stop on the route. In Singapore, guests enjoy trade-day access to the Airshow, followed by a gala dinner beneath the futuristic domes of Gardens by the Bay. In Egypt, the programme includes private dining with pyramid views, privileged access to the Sphinx base, and an intimate guided exploration of Cairo’s Grand Egyptian Museum.
The Italian leg offers its own rare encounters, from after-hours entry to the Vatican Museums to a hands-on pasta masterclass in Rome. Adding flexibility, participants also receive a business-class flight credit to extend their time in Australia before rejoining the return journey.
Departure: 3 February 2026.
Atlantic Archipelagos and Desert Expeditions
The Latin America & Atlantic Islands programme launches in August 2026, departing London with just 50 guests. Over 18 days, the journey spans the Azores and Madeira archipelagos, the colonial heart of Havana, and the stark landscapes of Chile’s Atacama Desert. A privately chartered Amazon River expedition adds a rare perspective on South America’s greatest waterway.
Travel is seamless aboard a Boeing 757-200, configured entirely for business-class comfort with lie-flat seats and a dedicated crew. Specialised flight paths unavailable to commercial aviation, connect remote islands and continental destinations with ease.
Cultural highlights are as rich as the landscapes: Portuguese wine tastings, Cuban cigar ateliers, and immersive encounters designed to reflect the character of each region. The expedition departs on 5 August 2026, ideally timed with the Southern Hemisphere’s winter months for optimal desert exploration.
