Château La Coste comes to Marylebone

Long lunches, golden-hour apéritifs and indulgent evenings al fresco have come to Marylebone Lane. 108 Brasserie has created La Terrasse on the Lane with Château La Coste, the art-led organic and biodynamic estate in the northern reaches of Provence, dressing its terrace in hanging vines and wicker chairs for the season. Earlier this summer, 108 Brasserie unveiled La Terrasse on the Lane, bringing a little of Provence to Marylebone Village for the season. Created in partnership with Château La Coste, the organic and biodynamic estate just north of Aix-en-Provence, the terrace is made for long lunches, golden-hour apéritifs and evenings that stretch beneath the awnings.

Set directly on the cobbles of Marylebone Lane, it pairs magnums of Château La Coste rosé and signature spritzes with Provençal-inspired dishes, from lobster brioche rolls and seafood platters to cherry clafoutis served with olive oil ice cream. It is an easy kind of summer escape, tucked just a few steps from Marylebone High Street.

Marylebone Lane curves gently away from the high street, lined with colourful independent shopfronts and old London brick. Halfway along, marked by its brick-red frontage and striking awnings, sits the entrance to 108 Brasserie. This summer, it opens onto somewhere that feels a world away from W1.

Vines trail down cream-coloured walls, wicker chairs gather around small tables and the terrace sits directly on the cobbles, with the rhythm of the lane continuing around it. The setting takes its inspiration from Château La Coste, an estate that brings together vineyards, art, architecture and hospitality across the Provençal countryside.

Rosé, spritzes and Provençal plates

The terrace is, naturally, best approached with a glass of rosé. Château La Coste’s biodynamic cuvées arrive chilled, with magnums poured tableside into elegant glassware, while an exclusive selection of the estate’s wines offers a taste of Provence in the heart of London. Château La Coste occupies the northern reaches of Provence, farming its vineyards organically and biodynamically while running a programme of art and architecture across the grounds. Visitors to the estate walk between vines and installations, with restaurants and accommodation woven into the property.

For golden hour, the signature rosé spritz is the natural choice. Light, refreshing and faintly bitter, it arrives at just the right moment, as the afternoon begins to soften and the lane takes on a slower pace. The food follows the same spirit, bringing familiar French flavours into a relaxed summer setting. A creamy, spicy lobster filling comes tucked into a buttery brioche roll that is generously filled.

For longer lunches, the seafood platter arrives over ice with crab, smoked salmon, mackerel and prawns, designed for sharing slowly between glasses of wine. Dessert brings the Château La Coste connection back to the table, with a warm cherry clafoutis served alongside olive oil ice cream made with the estate’s own organic extra virgin olive oil. The combination is rich, fresh and slightly savoury, making for a fitting end to the meal.

Summer on the lane

There is an easy rhythm to the terrace throughout the day. Late mornings lend themselves to a leisurely lunch before wandering through Marylebone Village, while the golden hour brings the spritzes and another glass of rosé. As evening arrives, the awnings frame the rooftops above and the lane gradually quietens around the tables.

Beyond La Terrasse on the Lane, 108 Brasserie continues its own all-day rhythm throughout the year. The bar serves classic and signature cocktails alongside an extensive wine list and its own 108 gin, while the menu takes a globally inspired approach and changes with the seasons. Sundays bring an indulgent lunch with unlimited roast potatoes, while the monthly jazz brunch adds live music to the dining room.

The Marylebone Hotel

For those wanting to extend the stay, The Marylebone, part of The Doyle Collection, sits just around the corner on Welbeck Street. The contemporary five-star hotel takes a design-led approach that feels entirely at home in its central London setting, while remaining relaxed enough to feel like a retreat from the city outside.

Together, La Terrasse on the Lane and The Marylebone offer two different ways to enjoy the neighbourhood. Both capture something particularly appealing about Marylebone in summer, where the pace feels slower, the streets invite lingering and London never feels too far away.
