IYC has confirmed the resale of hull number one of the Admiral 72 | Giorgio Armani, following its world debut at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. The project drew strong interest, giving a select group of clients and industry insiders the opportunity to step on board and experience the yacht’s design and craftsmanship first-hand.

Led by IYC and Michel Chryssicopoulos, the sale brought together several key partners, including Royal Yacht International, The Italian Sea Group and Markogiannis Law, whose combined efforts ensured the transaction’s successful completion.

Design by Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani’s influence runs through the entire yacht, shaping both the exterior and interior with a cohesive vision. The vessel is defined by confident proportions, clean lines, and meticulous attention to detail.

Inside, spaces are calm and refined, inspired by Armani’s work in private residences and luxury hospitality. Neutral tones, elegant materials, and generous volumes create interiors that feel understated yet luxurious. The exterior mirrors this approach, with long, sculpted lines and a sleek superstructure.

Construction and Classification

The Admiral 72 is designed for long-range exploration in all conditions. It carries Ice Class 1D certification with a 1C FS hull, enabling it to navigate polar and sub-polar waters, including first-year ice up to 80 centimetres thick. Structural reinforcements, from bow to waterline, combine with advanced mechanical systems engineered for extreme temperatures, ensuring reliability across oceans and high-latitude passages.

The yacht’s 6,000-nautical-mile range at economical cruising speeds allows genuine ocean crossings without refuelling, opening itineraries from the Arctic to the South Pacific. A Dynamic Positioning System holds the yacht in place without anchoring, ideal for sensitive bays, diving operations, or remote anchorages where seabeds are unsuitable. Every system, from propulsion to deck equipment, has been calibrated for both performance and ease of use on long voyages.

Accommodation and Living Spaces

At 2,100 gross tonnes, the Admiral 72 offers exceptional internal volume. Spacious ceilings, generous beam, and thoughtful circulation create interiors that feel open and airy. The owner’s deck spans 180 square metres, combining private interior suites with dedicated exterior lounging and dining areas, allowing for seamless indoor-outdoor living.

Guest accommodation is arranged across six en-suite cabins on the main deck, designed for comfort, privacy, and convenience. Each cabin is filled with natural light and offers uninterrupted views, while easy access to social areas ensures a fluid experience on board. Shared spaces, lounges, and dining areas are proportioned for both relaxation and entertaining, creating an environment that suits extended voyages and life at sea.

Range, Stability and Smart Systems

Designed for genuine long-distance cruising, the Admiral 72 offers a range of approximately 6,000 nautical miles at economical speeds. This opens up serious itinerary options, from transoceanic crossings to extended exploration of remote island chains.

The inclusion of a Dynamic Positioning System further enhances the yacht’s versatility. By maintaining position without anchoring, the system is invaluable in sensitive marine environments, deep waters or locations where anchoring is restricted. For owners operating far from established marinas, it adds both safety and flexibility.

Flag and Certification

The yacht flies the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry (CISR) flag and meets the Large Commercial Yacht Code. This combination reflects the highest standards of safety, crew management, and onboard systems. While it allows for charter operations, it also provides private owners with flexibility, global operational capability, and enhanced insurance terms.

The Next Hull

With the first Admiral 72 now successfully delivered to its new owner, attention turns to the second hull currently under construction. IYC remains involved as the project progresses, with the next yacht benefiting from the experience gained during the launch and early operation of the inaugural vessel.
