At this year’s Watches & Wonders event, Cartier unveiled several noteworthy additions to its lineup, amongst which the Santos De Cartier Dual Time stands out. This new model enhances the revered Santos collection with a sophisticated dual-time complication, encapsulated in a stylish grey dial. It is complemented by a steel bracelet and a grey alligator strap, both incorporated with Cartier’s innovative QuickSwitch system. Furthermore, the steel bracelet features Cartier’s SmartLink system, which facilitates effortless micro-adjustments.

Design and Functionality

The latest iteration in the Santos lineup, the Santos Dual Time boasts dimensions that cater to robust aesthetics and practicality. The timepiece measures 40.2mm in diameter and 10.1mm in thickness, with a lug-to-lug span of 47.5mm. It maintains a water resistance of up to 100 meters, embodying a blend of elegance and resilience.

Internally, the watch operates on a customised movement derived from the Sellita SW330. This automatic movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a 48-hour power reserve. The timepiece’s functionality is elegantly controlled via the crown, which adjusts the main time along with a 12-hour second-time zone display and an AM/PM indicator, all positioned on a subdial.

Aesthetic and Wearability

On the wrist, the Santos Dual Time mirrors the familiar presence of the larger models within the Santos collection, distinguished by its polished steel bezel that elegantly complements the dial’s silver tones. Despite its considerable size, the timepiece offers a balanced and comfortable fit, thanks to its intelligently designed short lugs.

The dual-time display focuses primarily on local time, with the secondary time zone subtly integrated into a subdial. This layout, combined with the watch’s colour scheme, ensures clarity and ease of reading both the local and secondary time zones.

Conclusion

Cartier’s Santos Dual Time is a significant addition to their core offerings, merging functionality with a timeless design. It successfully introduces an element of global sophistication to the Santos collection, making it an ideal choice for business executives who appreciate a blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern convenience in their timepieces. The integration of a dual-time complication in this iconic design not only broadens its appeal but also reaffirms Cartier’s commitment to innovation and excellence in watchmaking.
