Aston Martin’s latest creation, the Valhalla, marks a watershed moment in the luxury marque’s illustrious history. As the brand’s first series production mid-engined supercar and inaugural plug-in hybrid, this groundbreaking vehicle emerges as the embodiment of the company’s ambitious transformation, seamlessly blending Formula 1® technology with exceptional design prowess.
Under the stewardship of CEO Adrian Hallmark, Aston Martin has embarked on a visionary journey to redefine ultra-luxury performance. “Four years ago we set out on a journey to transform the Aston Martin brand by taking its historic and unmatched luxury credentials and adding cutting-edge F1® inspired technology and class-leading performance,” Hallmark explains. This bold vision materialises in the Valhalla, delivering an extraordinary 1079PS and 1100Nm of torque through its sophisticated hybrid powertrain.
Revolutionary Powertrain Technology
The technological heart of the Valhalla represents a masterpiece of modern engineering. An 828PS 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine works in harmony with three electric motors contributing an additional 251PS. Two of these motors are mounted on the front axle, while the third is integrated into the new 8-speed DCT transmission. This innovative configuration enables the Valhalla to achieve remarkable performance metrics: 0-100km/h in a mere 2.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 350km/h.
The powertrain’s efficiency is enhanced by an advanced High-Performance Battery system, featuring an ultra-effective dielectric cooling system that precisely manages 560 individual cells. This sophisticated system ensures optimal temperature control for consistent maximum performance, while the front axle’s innovative Radial Flux Interior Permanent E-motors generate an impressive 18.1 PS/kg each.
Aerodynamic Mastery
Working in close collaboration with Aston Martin Performance Technologies, the Valhalla’s aerodynamic excellence generates over 600kg of downforce at 240km/h. This remarkable achievement is maintained consistently up to the vehicle’s maximum speed through sophisticated active aerodynamics, which automatically adjust to optimise performance across various driving conditions.
The vehicle’s aerodynamic system includes a unique front wing design that manages airflow to both the wing itself and the underfloor vanes, complemented by an integrated cooling bypass for enhanced efficiency at high speeds. The rear features a distinctive T-Wing that rises 255mm on hydraulic rams when maximum downforce is required.
Design Evolution
Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin, emphasises the revolutionary design approach: “Knowledge gained during the Valkyrie hypercar programme was invaluable, as that meticulous mindset drove us to continually evolve and refine Valhalla’s design until finding a perfect balance of beauty and purpose.”
The exterior design showcases dramatic forward-hinged dihedral doors, incorporating innovative aerodynamic features such as the door turning vane, which cleverly directs airflow to enhance engine and transmission cooling by 50%. The F1® inspired roof snorkel not only serves an aesthetic purpose but also efficiently channels air to multiple critical systems.
Interior Innovation
The cabin architecture represents a perfect synthesis of Formula One® influences and signature Aston Martin luxury. The cockpit features a race-inspired steering wheel, lightweight carbon fibre seats, and an innovative HMI system with a column-mounted display. The novel “Amphitheatre line” wraps around the cabin, creating an immersive driving environment that masterfully balances performance focus with refined comfort.
Engineering Excellence
Simon Newton, Director of Vehicle Performance, highlights the engineering team’s remarkable achievement: “With 1079PS and 1100Nm, extraordinary performance is a given. The challenge is achieving next-level speed, precision and exhilaration on track while retaining the characteristics of an enjoyable and highly emotional supercar when driving on the road.”
The vehicle’s sophisticated chassis employs a bespoke carbon fibre tub, achieving a remarkably low dry weight of 1655kg and yielding an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 652PS per 1000kg. The suspension system combines Formula One® style push-rod front suspension with a 5-link rear system, complemented by Bilstein’s precise DTX adaptive dampers.
Dynamic Performance
The Valhalla introduces sophisticated Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control, featuring advanced torque vectoring and multiple driving modes. From Pure EV mode, offering 14km of electric-only range, to the track-focused Race mode, each setting delivers a distinct character through carefully calibrated adjustments to powertrain, suspension, and aerodynamic systems.
The braking system showcases equally impressive engineering, featuring 410mm Carbon Ceramic Brake discs at the front and 390mm at the rear. The system incorporates sophisticated brake-by-wire technology and regenerative braking capabilities, ensuring optimal performance in both road and track conditions.
Exclusive Customisation
Production of the Valhalla will be limited to 999 units, with deliveries scheduled to commence in the second half of 2025. Each vehicle can be extensively personalised through Q by Aston Martin, the brand’s bespoke service, allowing discerning clients to create truly unique manifestations of this groundbreaking supercar. Options range from exposed carbon fibre finishes with various tints to bespoke livery themes inspired by Aston Martin’s motorsport heritage.
The Future of Performance
The Valhalla embodies Aston Martin’s evolution into the future of high-performance luxury vehicles. By successfully merging cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship, the Valhalla establishes new benchmarks in the supercar segment while maintaining the distinctive character that has defined Aston Martin for generations.
