Fifty metres of Italian engineering, a penthouse suite above the waterline, a beach club that opens straight onto the sea, and a propulsion system unlike anything else afloat. Sanlorenzo’s Contigo is the world’s first green methanol fuel-cell superyacht, and she is now available to charter for the 2026 season through Cecil Wright, from $355,000 per week.

Anchor in a quiet bay, step down to the beach club, and feel the water within arm’s reach. That is the everyday promise of Contigo, a 49.99-metre superyacht from Sanlorenzo that has been designed, from the keel up, around the experience of being on the water rather than simply travelling across it. She is calm, spacious, and beautifully put together, with the kind of layout that makes a week feel twice as long in the best possible way.

The yacht carries a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, giving her the weight and volume to feel solid and generous at sea. Her interiors, designed by Studio Lissoni, run from bow to stern in a palette of natural materials and soft textures that feel closer to a private home than a charter yacht. Five cabins sleep ten guests in real comfort, and eleven professional crew are on hand to make sure nothing goes to want.

What sets Contigo apart from every other yacht in her class is what is happening beneath the decks. She is the first superyacht in the world to run on a green methanol fuel-cell system, a piece of engineering that means she can sit silently at anchor in the most protected waters on the chart, with zero emissions and no engine noise. It is a genuinely new kind of charter experience, and the 2026 season is all the better for it.

The penthouse suite

Contigo’s owner’s suite sits on the upper deck, a position that is unique in superyacht design at this size. Elevated above the rest of the yacht, it has the feel of a private penthouse with open water on all sides. There is a proper bedroom, a separate private study for quiet time away from the group, and a dedicated dressing room. It is the kind of suite that makes the end of a long day at sea something to look forward to.

Moving the suite to the upper deck also had a significant effect on the rest of the yacht. With the master accommodation relocated upward, the engine room was freed from the lower deck entirely, opening up a full-beam space at sea level that became one of Contigo’s most celebrated features.

The beach club

The beach club and ocean lounge run the full width of the yacht at sea level, opening directly onto the water. It is a large, sun-filled space with easy access to the swim platform and a natural ease about it that makes guests want to stay. Whether the plan is a morning swim, an afternoon on the SEABOBs, or a sundowner as the anchor holds, this is where it all happens.

The lounge element of the space gives it a dual purpose, active during the day and relaxed in the evening, and the flow between the two is effortless. Few areas on any charter yacht come close to offering this kind of connection to the sea, and on Contigo it is the heart of daily life on board.

The interiors

Studio Lissoni has brought a considered and deeply residential quality to the interior of Contigo. Every surface has been chosen with care, from the richly grained natural timbers and hand-selected stone finishes to the soft furnishings that invite you to sit and stay a while. The colour palette is warm, drawing on the tones of the natural world above and below the waterline. It feels, in the very best sense, like somewhere that belongs to someone with impeccable taste.

Beyond the penthouse suite, four further guest cabins offer generous proportions and a level of finish that would not feel out of place in a five-star hotel ashore. Each space has been given its own quiet sense of luxury, with quality bedding, considered lighting, and enough room to properly unpack and settle in.

A thoughtful layout for younger guests makes Contigo an excellent choice for family charters, without asking anyone else on board to compromise.

Onboard amenities

Contigo has been outfitted with the full breadth of amenities that a serious charter yacht demands. A private spa and sauna offer genuine restoration after a long day on the water, while the fully equipped gymnasium keeps fitness routines intact across even the most indulgent weeks. The deck jacuzzi, positioned to take in open sea views, is exactly the kind of feature that gets used every single evening.

Multiple living spaces across the decks give the yacht a sense of generosity that larger vessels sometimes struggle to achieve. There is always somewhere right to be, whether that is a shaded outdoor terrace in the afternoon heat, a bright and airy saloon for lunch, or a quieter corner for an evening read. Contigo moves between moods with ease, and the crew of eleven are there to make sure every moment is attended to with care.

For time on the water, the toy selection is excellent. Four F5SR SEABOBs, jet skis, wakeboards, canoes, bikes, and snorkelling equipment keep an active group well occupied across multiple anchorages. A 55 Wajer chase tender, backed by two additional tenders, handles getting ashore with speed and considerable style.

The fuel-cell system

Contigo is the first superyacht in the world to run on a green methanol fuel-cell system, developed by Sanlorenzo on its 50Steel platform. At anchor, this means complete silence and zero emissions. There is no generator running in the background, no exhaust, and no restrictions on where she can drop the hook. Marine reserves, protected bays, and pristine anchorages that are off-limits to conventionally powered yachts become straightforward options.

Under way, she cruises at 12.5 knots with a top speed of 16 knots, and carries a range of approximately 4,000 nautical miles. That is more than enough for a full Mediterranean season, and opens the door to longer Atlantic passages for those with the ambition to pursue them.

The fuel-cell is supported by advanced energy management systems, an optimised hull, and high-performance noise and vibration reduction, a package that makes the on-board experience noticeably quieter and smoother than a comparable conventional yacht.
