This summer, Signor Sassi Mare opens its doors at the You Marina Lounge & Restaurant in Piazza Azzurra, giving the harbour a dining destination built entirely for the season ahead.

It marks a first collaboration between two well established hospitality names. San Carlo Group, custodian of the original Signor Sassi concept, has joined forces with Sunset Hospitality Group, the operator that took the brand to Dubai and has since built a reputation across some of the world’s most watched dining markets.

“We are delighted to bring Signor Sassi Mare to Porto Cervo, one of the Mediterranean’s most iconic coastal destinations. Following the success of our expansion to locations such as Dubai and Miami, the upcoming opening continues our vision of creating unforgettable, luxury dining experiences in some of the world’s most beautiful settings. We look forward to welcoming guests to a truly vibrant celebration of Italian summer living on the Sardinian coast.”

Together they bring a menu shaped by Mediterranean waters and Italian tradition, set against a backdrop of yachts and evening light that Porto Cervo does better than almost anywhere else.

A coastal inspired kitchen

Seafood sits at the heart of the menu, treated simply and handled with obvious care. Crudo arrives cold and clean, grilled fish is cooked with precision, and lobster pasta gives the evening service its centrepiece. Handmade pasta and premium meats round out the choices, each built around whatever the season has to offer.

Classic Italian desserts close the meal, alongside a set of antipasti drawn from the group’s wider portfolio. Little here feels invented for the occasion. The kitchen has simply taken a proven formula and set it against saltwater and sky, letting the setting do the rest of the work.

Forty years and four cities

The brand behind this opening has spent close to forty years building its name, growing from a single restaurant into a small, closely watched collection of dining rooms. London, Dubai, Riyadh and Miami each host a location, and each has attracted its own following of regulars, visiting royals and travellers who plan their itineraries around a table.

What has carried the brand between such different cities is not any single dish, but a certain warmth, informal rather than stiff, that translates easily regardless of postcode. Porto Cervo now enters that circle, the first location built to last a summer.

“My connection with Signor Sassi runs deep, we first brought the brand to Dubai, and watching it become part of the city’s dining fabric was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. This partnership with San Carlo Group feels like a story still very much in the making. Porto Cervo is a destination that demands the very best, and together, that is precisely what we intend to deliver. We look forward to welcoming guests to a summer they will not forget, and to many more ventures with San Carlo Group to come.”

The pull of the harbour

Tables face directly onto the marina, where yachts drift past through lunch and linger into the golden hour, giving every sitting its own quiet theatre. Lunch tends to run long here, cocktails arrive as the light softens, and dinner stretches well into the evening without anyone seeming to notice the time.

With the wider group continuing to expand into new cities, Porto Cervo offers a chance to test the format in a resort environment built around short, intense summer seasons rather than year-round trade. Early indications point to a residency designed to make the most of that window, with long lunches, sunset drinks and evening dinners all built into the daily rhythm through to the end of the season.
